Hommage : El Hadj Soro Néhélo, l'œil de Fraternité Matin, inhumé ce vendredi
The world of media and photography is in mourning. El Hadj Soro Néhélo, an iconic figure in Ivorian photography, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. Former head of the photo department at the national daily Fraternité Matin and personal photographer to the late Laurent Dona-Fologo, he has permanently put away his camera and flash.
His funeral will be held this Friday, October 17, with his burial planned in his native village of Nadorikaha, in the Sinématiali department.
A passionate and meticulous photographer, Soro Néhélo, with his training acquired in France, dedicated his entire life to the art of the eighth art, training numerous professionals along the way. His professionalism and discretion were unanimously recognized in the industry.
At Fraternité Matin , he left a rich collection of photographs that demonstrate his talent for immortalizing timeless moments in the country's history. Even after his retirement, he continued to pursue his passion alongside the late Laurent Dona-Fologo, former president of the Economic and Social Council.
After a life of hard work and accomplished photographic creations, El Hadj Soro Néhélo, a fervent believer, joined the mercy of Allah, to whom he always devoted unfailing obedience.
