Idriss Diallo, le président de la FIF, nommé Consul honoraire des Bahamas en Côte d'Ivoire

Idriss Yacine Diallo, president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), has been appointed Honorary Consul of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in Côte d'Ivoire.

This announcement, made official by the FIF on Thursday, October 23, 2025, on its Facebook page, recognizes Idriss Diallo's leadership, commitment, and contribution to the development of Ivorian football, according to the body. The Bahamian authorities are thus rewarding his openness to sports diplomacy and international relations.

In this new role, the FIF President will be tasked with strengthening the bonds of friendship between the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, particularly through cooperation in the fields of sport, culture, youth and economic exchanges.

Idriss Diallo expressed his determination: "I fully appreciate the responsibility that the government of the Bahamas has given me. My ambition is to bring our two nations closer together and open up new perspectives of cooperation for the benefit of our peoples."

At the appointment ceremony, held on October 21, 2025, Bahamas Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell emphasized his government's commitment to strengthening relations with West Africa, and more specifically with Côte d'Ivoire, which is known for its stability and economic dynamism.

This diplomatic appointment comes shortly after his appointment as head of FIFA's Media and Communications Committee.

As a reminder, the Bahamas, whose capital is Nassau, is an English-speaking country, member of the Commonwealth, located southeast of Florida.
