At the opening of the 2025 review workshop in Abengourou on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the Minister of Water and Forests signaled the end of inaction. Faced with deforestation that has swallowed up 80% of Ivory Coast's forests, Jacques Assahoré Konan is now imposing a results-oriented culture.
The national objective is clear: to restore 20% of the forest cover by 2030. For the minister, this "non-negotiable" ambition rests on three pillars for the year 2026:
"We are not just managing files, we are committing the climate future and the credibility of the country," he reminded, calling on his teams to transform strategies into concrete impacts on the ground.
