The village of Kakologo, in the Korhogo department, is currently experiencing a profound social divide. A conflict over legitimacy between two rival clans threatens to permanently destabilize this locality in the sub-prefecture of Napié. A duel for the throne: Yéo Ouonon versus Yéo Koronan

For several weeks, social cohesion in Kakologo has been severely tested. Two local figures, Yéo Ouonon and Yéo Koronan , are vying for control of the village and its chieftaincy. This rivalry has split the community into two distinct camps, creating a climate of tension that worries both the population and the authorities.

Failure of traditional mediation

In an attempt at appeasement, the canton chief of Napié, Diarrassouba Madou , brought the two parties together at his residence on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Despite the support of a delegation from Korhogo, the canton chief's call for "joint management" and fraternity met with strong opposition.

Yéo Koronan's supporters loudly protested their rejection of a compromise solution, demanding a definitive settlement rather than forced coexistence. Faced with this clear rift, the traditional authorities handed over power to the prefectural administration.

The State's response: Transparency and Security

Received in audience at the sub-prefecture of Napié, the protagonists met with Sub-Prefect Agnéro Gérard . The latter, surrounded by law enforcement, made a decisive move to resolve the crisis:

1. A public consultation: A vote or a field survey will be organized soon in Kakologo to decide between the two rivals in a democratic manner.
2. Strict security measures: The gendarmerie brigade commander warned that a deployment of security forces would precede this consultation in order to guarantee public order.

"Before I hold public consultations, I will go to Kakologo with the security forces," the brigade commander insisted, emphasizing the state's firmness in the face of the risks of escalation.

While awaiting this crucial deadline, the sub-prefect called on both sides to exercise restraint and a sense of responsibility in order to preserve social peace.
