Korhogo : une femme arrêtée avec 25 000 comprimés de Tramadol

A major seizure of counterfeit medicines was made in Korhogo as part of Operation Sparrowhawk. On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, officers from the regional branch of the Narcotics and Drug Enforcement Directorate (DPSD) arrested a woman transporting a large quantity of Tramadol tablets concealed in her suitcases.

According to police sources, the suspect, identified by the initials KD, aged 44, was apprehended following an anonymous tip about the transport of illicit pharmaceuticals. Upon opening and searching the luggage, police discovered 25,000 Tramadol tablets, an opioid medication frequently diverted from its medical use and central to numerous drug trafficking operations in Ivory Coast and the sub-region.

This successful operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of counterfeit medicines, a scourge with particularly serious consequences for public health. The seized products, often sold without any controls or traceability, expose consumers to risks of poisoning, addiction, or major medical complications.

Operation Sparrowhawk, deployed across the country, aims specifically to identify and dismantle networks specializing in this illegal trade, while strengthening public health security. Following this arrest, the National Police reaffirmed its determination to continue its efforts against the trafficking of illicit pharmaceutical substances, stating in its press release: “To serve, our vocation.”
