Lakota : La police municipale libère les abords de la sous-préfecture
Following the major cleanup operations in Abidjan, it is now Lakota's turn to clean up its public spaces. On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the municipal police evicted the vendors who had set up shop near the sub-prefecture and the Kokora pharmacy.
These market women, who had occupied the premises since the fire that destroyed the main market in 2020, were located on a strategic road. Authorities justify their intervention by citing road safety concerns (congestion on a dangerous bend), hygiene issues, and respect for administrative institutions. Faced with repeated complaints from the pharmacy and the sub-prefecture, the town hall opted for a firm stance.
To compensate for this departure, three relocation sites have been proposed:
