L'audiovisuel africain en deuil : Consty Eka, « Le Roi de la télé », s'est éteint à Abidjan
The media world is in shock. Consty Eka , an emblematic and visionary figure in the African audiovisual landscape, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. According to his family, the renowned producer succumbed to a sudden illness in the Ivorian economic capital.
Affectionately nicknamed "The King of Television", Consty Eka was not just a media man, but an architect of the image.
Long before the current explosion of the African music scene, Consty Eka understood the need to celebrate local excellence:
"He believed, before many others, in the power of African imagery and its ability to tell the story of the world."
His immense contribution earned him the "Legend of Audiovisual Communication" award at the ASCOM Awards in 2022. Until his last breath, he remained an active participant, developing numerous projects to support the next generation.
Since the announcement of his passing, a wave of emotion has swept across social media and newsrooms. From Kinshasa to Paris, via Abidjan and Douala, the continent mourns a man who gave Africa a stage worthy of his talent.
