Le procès de l’attaque de Kafolo s’ouvre sous le signe des incertitudes
The Abidjan Court of First Instance began its examination on Monday, December 22, of the jihadist attack in Kafolo that occurred in June 2020. This trial aims to judge around forty individuals accused of having participated in the assault against an Ivorian border post, which cost the lives of 13 soldiers and a gendarme.
At the heart of the debates, the question of motives and complicity remains unclear. While the prosecution sees it as retaliation for the "Comoé" military operation, the defendants are evasive. Among them, Ali Sidibé (alias Sofiane) attracted attention by openly claiming his status as a "jihadist" with a smile, while remaining tight-lipped about logistical details. The challenge of the upcoming hearings will be to determine the actual links between these local cells and Sahelian groups, such as the Macina Katiba. The proceedings will resume on January 5, 2026 .
