Lutte contre la traite des migrants : l’OIM et le CNLTP mobilisent le Sud-Ouest ivoirien
Since Saturday, March 14, 2026, the San Pedro region has been at the heart of an offensive against human exploitation. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Committee for the Fight Against Trafficking in Persons (CNLTP) have deployed a vast awareness campaign there aimed at curbing human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants.
This five-day journey, which will extend to Grand-Béréby and Tabou, emphasizes community engagement. In San Pedro and the village of Baba, authorities have prioritized direct dialogue with traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and youth leaders. The objective is twofold: to teach communities how to identify risks and to raise awareness of victim protection mechanisms.
Mr. N'Guessan Jean Roland, secretary of the CNLTP, took advantage of these discussions to call for collective vigilance. Given its economic importance and strategic coastal location, the San Pedro region remains a sensitive transit point for migration flows, making the involvement of local populations essential to counter smuggling networks.
