Nahio : Appui financier et appel au calme après les tensions post-électorales
The village of Nahio, in the department of Saioua, continues to seek the path to peace after the community tensions that arose following the presidential election of October 2025. To support the reconciliation process and encourage a return to calm, the Minister of Social Cohesion, Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty, Myss Belmonde Dogo, recently visited the locality.
During this visit, the minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to prioritizing dialogue and social peace.
“Together, we will continue to discuss, while hoping that life will return to normal. We ask the parents who have taken refuge in the bush to return to the village. Everything that tradition requires in such circumstances will be done,” she said.
To support the community during this period of social and emotional reconstruction, financial assistance was provided:
-5 million FCFA to the village community;
-1 million FCFA per deceased person to support bereaved families;
-700,000 FCFA to the pregnant woman who was shot and unfortunately lost her baby.
This support aims to relieve those affected by the violence and to encourage the gradual resumption of community life.
The minister stressed the need to prioritize lasting peace and harmonious coexistence among residents. Dialogue with traditional chiefs, community leaders, and affected families will continue, with the aim of restoring trust and enabling all refugee families to return to their villages.
The situation in Nahio remains closely monitored by the authorities, who intend to consolidate efforts towards reconciliation and social cohesion in the region.
