Sécurité alimentaire en Côte d'Ivoire : La FAO, le PAM et le FIDA dévoilent leur feuille de route 2026

The United Nations system agencies, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO ), the International Fund for Agricultural Development ( IFAD ) and the World Food Programme ( WFP ), reaffirmed their commitment to Côte d'Ivoire during the 45th World Food Day (WFD), celebrated on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

During this event, the FAO representative, Nyemah Joseph, presented the synergy of action of the three institutions for a sustainable transformation of the country's food systems.

🤝 Targeted and coordinated support

The three agencies are pooling their resources around several priority areas:

  1. Operationalization of agropoles: FAO, WFP and IFAD are working closely together to support the implementation of this strategic program.
  2. Support for small producers: Particular effort is being made to strengthen the capacities of women's groups, improve their access to markets and make significant investments in agricultural and rural development.
  3. Alignment with the NDP: The United Nations actively contributes to the achievement of the objectives of the National Development Plan (NDP) in agriculture, resilience and the creation of economic opportunities for youth and women.

Mr. Joseph thus reaffirmed the commitment of the UN system to inclusive and sustainable development alongside the Ivorian population.

💰 Towards a National Forum on Agricultural Investment

Building on this momentum, the FAO representative announced the development of a major investment plan. This plan will culminate in the organization of a National Forum on Agricultural Investment during the first quarter of 2026.

✅ The gratitude of the Ivorian government

Representing the government, Adama Kamara, Minister of Employment and Social Protection, expressed Côte d'Ivoire's deep gratitude for the continued support of its partners. He emphasized that this international solidarity is essential to maintaining the country at a satisfactory level of food security .

The JMA, held this year under the theme " Hand in hand for better food and a better future ", highlighted the challenges facing the sector, the progress made and the need to strengthen partnerships for concrete actions.
