Since the night of Monday, February 23rd to Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, a significant portion of the Sud-Comoé region has been plunged into darkness. A technical incident at the Bassam 2 substation is currently paralyzing several cities and strategic industrial zones.

The facts: A trying night for local residents

The power outage occurred around 2 a.m. , catching residents off guard as they slept. In Grand-Bassam, the daily lives of residents were immediately disrupted. Charlotte N'Guessan, a resident of the Odoss neighborhood, described the difficulty of the situation: "I spent the entire night fanning my baby and his four-year-old brother."

Areas of uncertainty: A wide perimeter

The incident is not limited to a single area. The Ivorian Electricity Company (CIE) has confirmed that power is outages in the following localities:

1. Grand-Bassam: Odoss, Mondoukou, Ecrécien Ville, Motobé Ngokro and Rosiers districts.
2. Bonoua: The town, its industrial zone, as well as the districts of Edoukoumiézan, Zinzala, Mockeyville, CAFOP, Bramakoté and the Artisanal district.
3. Aboisso: The city is also affected by these disruptions.

The CIE assures that its technicians are mobilized in the field to identify the exact source of the outage and stabilize the network. Although repair work is underway, the economic impact is already being felt, particularly in the industrial zones of Bonoua.
