Tonkpi : Cap sur l'innovation et la rigueur pour la session régionale 2026

On February 20, 2026, the meeting room of the Tonkpi Regional Council hosted the first ordinary session of the year. Under the leadership of its president, Dr. Albert Mabri Toikeusse , the assembly defined the priority areas for the administrative and financial development of the region, marked by new structures for reflection and support for entrepreneurship.

The CRD: A new think tank

One of the highlights of this session was the intervention of Prof. Gonnety Jean , president of the new Regional Development Committee (CRD).

  1. Composition: 120 experts and active forces.
  2. Objective: To serve as a permanent consultation framework to generate structuring projects.
  3. Role: To provide in-depth technical expertise to the Council's decisions.

Support for entrepreneurship: Proximity and inclusion

The Council is innovating with the creation of the Tonkpi Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre . A true regional incubator, this project aims to be decentralized:

  1. Territorial network: Hubs established in the 33 sub-prefectures .
  2. Target audience: Young people, women and retirees.
  3. Support: Assistance with financing via the Guarantee Fund and the proceeds from the Tonkpi Nihidaley Festival.

Social impact and economic outcome

The Council reaffirmed its social commitment through concrete projects that are already operational:

  1. Employment: The Danané rice processing unit generates more than 100 direct jobs .
  2. Integration: The Pejedec 3 program now reaches 3,452 beneficiaries spread across 85 villages.

The thorny issue of the Guarantee Fund

Despite these successes, the financial health of the loan mechanisms is a cause for concern. Of the 433 million FCFA granted, only 154 million has been recovered. The contrast between the departments is striking:

  1. Biankouma: Good student with 67.11% reimbursement.
  2. Zouan-Hounien: Struggling with only 22.79% .
"The beneficiaries must repay their loans in order to allow other young people and women to benefit," stressed Dr. Mabri Toikeusse, before reappointing his entire board.

The session concluded on a note of solidarity with the distribution of food donations to Muslim and Christian communities, currently in a period of penitence.
