Transport à Cocody : Vers une régulation stricte des taxis communaux
The municipality of Cocody has taken a decisive step in modernizing its transport network. Faced with urban disorder, the town hall has introduced municipal decree no. 065 , a text aimed at cleaning up and structuring the activity of communal taxis (wôrô-wôrô).
Gathered at a press conference this Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the members of the Union of Founders and Actors of Public and Private Transport in Ivory Coast ( Ufatpci ) displayed their firm support for this initiative.
The municipal decree does not simply limit the number of vehicles; it completely redefines the rules of the game for carriers:
According to Traoré Adama , president of Ufatpci, this measure is a direct response to the proliferation of unlicensed taxis. Numerous private vehicles, simply painted yellow, circulate without paying taxes or licenses, stifling legitimate transport operators.
"Around 80% of the players are still trying to circumvent the rules," lamented Mr. Traoré, while reminding everyone that only authorized and identified carriers will now be able to operate within the municipality.
