4 sur 4 pour Paul Magnier, intouchable en Chine !
Paul Magnier is definitely leaving only crumbs for the competition. This Friday, the young Soudal Quick-Step rider won the fourth stage of the Tour of Guangxi, thus securing an impressive fourth consecutive victory.
On a hilly course that included five climbs and 2,500 meters of elevation gain, the 22-year-old Frenchman proved he was more than just a sprinter. Despite a final 800-meter climb at a 7% gradient with around ten kilometers to go, he resisted the attacks before winning once again in a sprint ahead of Pavel Bittner (Picnic PostNL) and Jordi Meeus (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe).
With 18 wins this season and 23 in his young career, Magnier continues to break the records and establish himself as one of the most promising riders in the peloton. He unsurprisingly retains his leader's red jersey, with a 26-second lead over his pursuers.
At just 22 years old, the Isère native is now the second-most successful rider in history at his age, just behind Giuseppe Saronni. On Saturday, he will attempt to continue his streak on the queen stage, judged to the summit of Nongla, a short but formidable climb (3.2 km at 7.3%). A new challenge that could definitively confirm his incredible domination in China.
