CAN 2025 : le Soudan surprend la Guinée équatoriale et s’impose 1-0 dans le Groupe E
Sudan secured a valuable victory this Sunday during the 2nd day of Group E of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, beating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The match, long undecided, was decided in the 74th minute by an unfortunate incident for Nzalang Nacional. Under pressure from the opposition, Equatorial Guinean defender Saúl Coco scored an own goal, giving the Sudanese Falcons the decisive advantage.
Before this turning point, Equatorial Guinea had clearly dominated possession, creating several attacking opportunities but failing to find the back of the net. Sudan's lack of clinical finishing and solid defense ultimately proved decisive.
For its part, Sudan displayed tactical rigor and discipline, favoring a compact defensive block and rapid transitions. This cautious yet effective approach allowed it to contain the opposing attacks before capitalizing on the fatal error.
This victory marks Sudan's first in the Africa Cup of Nations finals in several years and significantly revives their chances of qualifying for the round of 16. In a very open Group E, which also includes Algeria and Burkina Faso, the competition promises to be fierce until the final matchday.
