La BAL et Wave transforment un terrain de basketball à Yopougon
The youth of Yopougon now have an exceptional playing field! The Basketball Africa League (BAL) , in partnership with Wave Côte d'Ivoire , inaugurated a brand-new, fully renovated basketball court, meeting the standards of the Ivorian Basketball Federation (FIBB). The event took place on Friday, November 28, 2025, in the Toit Rouge neighborhood.
This initiative is part of the BAL's broader ambition, in collaboration with NBA Africa, to renovate or build 1,000 basketball courts across the continent over the next ten years. The BAL, a professional league comprising 12 African clubs, is thus reaffirming its leading role in creating sustainable opportunities for young people.
With this modernization, young basketball players in Yopougon benefit from a more modern and secure infrastructure, conducive to training and the development of talent. Côte d'Ivoire, along with Senegal and South Africa, is a key country involved in the league's 2025 season, strengthening the community impact in both Dakar and Abidjan.
The realization of this project is the result of the support of Wave Côte d'Ivoire , a financial partner of BAL. This inauguration marks a symbolic step in their partnership aimed at supporting community engagement.
Local and institutional stakeholders welcomed this achievement.
Moussa Diarra , representing the FIBB, reaffirmed the federation's openness to future collaborations: "Our arms are open. We are ready to work with all partners, public and private, for the development of basketball."
Finally, Abdul Kader , representing Mayor Adama Bictogo, warmly congratulated the initiators of the project and expressed his gratitude to BAL for choosing the municipality of Yopougon.
