Soupçons de match truqué en Ligue 1 : L'attaquant ivoirien Elye Wahi au cœur d’un scandale judiciaire
Striker Elye Wahi, currently playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup in the United States, is at the center of a legal case. According to The Athletic, the Ivorian is under investigation for suspected match-fixing.
Targeted directly by the controversy, Elye Wahi is suspected of having caused a yellow card on May 17th in Ligue 1, during the match between OGC Nice and FC Metz. This action, deemed unusual, prompted the LFP (French Professional Football League) to file a complaint against the former Olympique de Marseille player with the Marseille public prosecutor's office, which has opened an investigation. French football authorities have detected several sports betting transactions linked to this incident.
Furthermore, the owner of the number 9 jersey for OGC Nice was questioned by French police specializing in this matter before the end of the season. He was then released after his hearing. Having faced no charges, Elye Wahi will continue his adventure with the Elephants for the World Cup group stage. Meanwhile, the investigation continues to shed light on this murky affair.
