Sport ivoirien : Le ministre Adjé Silas Metch siffle la fin de la récréation
Faced with a growing number of internal crises shaking several national sports federations, the Minister of Sports, Adjé Silas Metch , has firmly called on leaders to act responsibly. Between poor governance and ego clashes, the head of the sports ministry intends to restore order to preserve Côte d'Ivoire's image.
The minister is no longer hiding his annoyance. While all eyes are on the 2026 World Cup , Ivorian sport seems to be held back by archaic practices. The diagnosis is unequivocal:
Several disciplines are particularly singled out: taekwondo, judo, boxing, table tennis, swimming, rugby , as well as paddle sports (outrigger canoe, canoe-kayak).
"We have asked the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for mediation, but the situation seems to be getting worse. We can no longer stand idly by," the minister insisted.
Adjé Silas Metch was keen to clarify his position: his sole priority is the international influence of the country, and not appeasement of federal leaders.
Its guiding principles:
The ministry's ambition for 2026 is based on a professional structure to prepare for major deadlines:
Beyond athletic performance, the entire sports ecosystem will be transformed. The minister plans a profound reform of the legal, financial, and institutional framework . This will notably involve drafting implementing decrees for the sports law to provide a more transparent and operational environment.
For Adjé Silas Metch, sport must become a true lever of soft power for Côte d'Ivoire. Modernization will begin as soon as the Ivorian delegation returns from the World Cup.
