L'Assemblée nationale solidaire des victimes des pluies diluviennes
At the close of the first ordinary session of 2026, on Tuesday, June 30, the President of the National Assembly, Patrick Achi, wished to send a message of deep compassion to the families affected by the recent deadly storms.
Opening his solemn speech, Patrick Achi called on all members of parliament to stand united with the head of state and the government to support the victims.
"I would like all of us, gathered here today in this People's Assembly, to express, following the Head of State and the Government, our most sincere compassion to the families who have been bereaved in recent days by the torrential rains that have affected our country," he said emotionally.
The Speaker of the lower house of Parliament assured the bereaved families of the nation's unwavering moral support, affirming that the thoughts and prayers of the national representation were with them in this painful ordeal.
Beyond words, Patrick Achi reiterated the National Assembly's full support for the large-scale actions undertaken by the executive branch. The institution thus validates and supports the emergency measures implemented to assist the affected populations and manage the consequences of these tragic events.
As a reminder, the night of Sunday 28 to Monday 29 June 2026 was particularly dramatic for the economic capital: torrential rains of rare violence fell on Abidjan, causing the death of about twenty people and numerous material damages.
