An impressive police operation was carried out by the Daloa Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) following a burglary that occurred on January 5, 2026, in the Lobia SODECI neighborhood. That day, around 6:00 PM, Mr. DZE, returning from a trip, discovered his home ransacked: doors broken, belongings stolen, and money gone. The material damage was particularly significant.

According to initial findings, the burglars made off with four cartons and 28 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes valued at 1,824,000 FCFA, 715,000 FCFA in cash, a 42-inch plasma television, a B6 gas cylinder, clothing, shoes, and six 5-liter cans of motor oil. The thief or thieves had clearly operated meticulously and without haste, taking everything that could be easily resold.

Alerted, the Daloa BRI (Rapid Intervention Brigade) immediately opened an investigation. Very quickly, cross-referencing information led investigators to a lead pointing to the Kennedy 1 neighborhood, near the maternity hospital of the same name. A team led by Commissioner Beugré went to the scene that evening.

Around 7 p.m., the suspect, TN, alias "Vetcho," unemployed and known to the police, was arrested at his home. The subsequent search uncovered a veritable stockpile of stolen goods, reminiscent of a shop inventory: three fans, three plasma screen televisions, a DVD player, three new pagnes (wraparound skirts), nine outfits including suits belonging to the victim, two gas cylinders, thirty-one pairs of shoes, a hammer, a machete, six packs of wicks, and numerous other items.

The quantity and variety of the seized items suggest that the suspect may be involved in several other unsolved burglaries. The evidence collected was immediately forwarded to the public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Daloa, before whom the accused will have to answer for his actions.
