Grand-Bassam – Adjamé : un réseau de braqueurs actifs démantelé
A joint operation between the Grand-Bassam police station and the Southern Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI SUD) on November 16, 2025, led to a major breakthrough in an armed robbery investigation operating between Port-Bouët, Grand-Bassam and Adjamé.
It all began in Grand-Bassam, when officers from the local police station apprehended an armed individual suspected of involvement in an armed robbery and kidnapping. Following instructions from the prosecutor's office, the suspect was handed over to the BRI SUD (Southern Intervention Brigade) teams dispatched from Abidjan, due to the criminal nature of the case. The weapon found on him, initially identified as a Beretta pistol, was later confirmed to be a non-lethal rubber-bullet gun.
At the BRI headquarters, the suspect's interrogation quickly opened a crucial lead: the man admitted to belonging to a gang involved in a robbery committed on October 13, 2025, in Port-Bouët Anani. He also provided information that allowed investigators to locate two of his accomplices in the Adjamé district.
Based on these revelations, the BRI SUD then arrested IE, a shopkeeper, and AA, alias "Jumo," both identified as members of the criminal group. Two other members of the network remain actively sought.
The three individuals arrested were brought before the competent court to answer for the charges of aggravated robbery.
This operation illustrates the operational collaboration between territorial units and specialized brigades, which is gradually approaching a complete dismantling of the gang.
