Grand Abidjan : Le gouvernement lance une réforme historique pour révolutionner le transport collectif
Faced with the traffic congestion plaguing the economic capital, the Ivorian authorities are taking action. On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Greater Abidjan Public Transport Network Restructuring Project ( PRRTC-GA ) was officially launched, marking the beginning of a profound transformation of urban mobility.
The current system, plagued by chronic traffic congestion, insufficient service, and a lack of coordination, has reached its limits. Representing the Minister of Transport, technical advisor Kadjo N'guetta launched this ambitious project. The objective is clear: to move from a fragmented model to an organized, hierarchical, and interconnected network.
Under the aegis of the Greater Abidjan Urban Mobility Authority ( AMUGA ), the PRRTC-GA builds on major projects already underway to create a multimodal synergy:
For Romain Kouakou , Director General of AMUGA, this project is not limited to technical infrastructure; it represents a societal vision. The reform aims to provide Abidjan residents with a service:
"The transformation of public transport cannot happen without strong coordination between government departments, local authorities and private operators." — Kadjo N'guetta , Technical Advisor.
The success of this transformation depends on everyone's support. This launch phase also serves as a platform for dialogue among transport operators and technical partners. By aligning these reforms with the Urban Development Master Plan , Côte d'Ivoire aims to make Abidjan a modern, competitive, and, above all, more breathable metropolis for its residents.
