With Eid al-Adha approaching (scheduled for the end of May), the Autonomous District of Abidjan unveiled, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, a rigorous action plan to regulate the livestock and meat sector. The objective is clear: to avoid urban chaos and guarantee stable prices for consumers.

1. A single point of entry: Anyama

The key measure of this plan is the centralization of flows. The livestock park at the Anyama slaughterhouse is now the sole authorized site for unloading livestock trucks.

2. Secure corridors for smooth traffic flow

To transport the animals without paralyzing the economic capital, two strategic approaches have been defined:

1. Northern axis: Via the Northern motorway.
2. South/East axis: From the Anani roundabout.

These journeys will benefit from joint supervision provided by the National Police, the District authorities and professional actors in the sector.

3. Priority objectives

The District is relying on this organization to address three major challenges:

1. Economy: Preventing shortages and curbing price speculation.
2. Security: Protecting carriers and limiting criminal acts that are frequent during periods of high traffic.
3. Public health: Strengthen health controls on animals between Ramadan and Tabaski.

Beware of sanctions

The authorities have been perfectly clear: failure to comply with these directives will result in immediate sanctions . Violators will face:

1. The systematic impounding of vehicles.
2. A formal ban on carrying out any livestock delivery activity in the District of Abidjan.
