Transports : Le Ministère Dégage 307 Milliards de FCFA pour son Programme 2026-2028

The 2026-2028 program budget of the Ministry of Transport, recently adopted by the deputies on November 21, 2025, was presented to the Senate on Friday, December 12, 2025. This ambitious program, aligned with the strategic vision of the government, aims to modernize infrastructure and guarantee safe and efficient mobility in Côte d'Ivoire.

💰 An Ambitious Investment-Focused Budget

The total proposed budget for the period 2026-2028 amounts to 307,769,615,082 FCFA .

  1. Main Financing: This amount is mainly financed by domestic state resources, amounting to 231.548 billion FCFA.
  2. Priority to Investments: The overall budget is spread across five main programs, with a strong focus on structural investments, representing 90.32% of the total budget .

The breakdown by major sector of activity is as follows:

🛣️ Major Projects and Key Announcements

Minister Amadou Koné detailed several flagship projects included in this budget, continuing the funding allocated in 2024:

Land Transport

  1. Abidjan Metro: The Minister confirmed the completion of the project and reassured the public regarding its progress (land clearance, compensation for households, relocation of underground utilities). The metro is expected to be operational by the end of 2028 , following a trial period.
  2. Transit Rapid Bus: Continuation of the high-level service bus project.
  3. New Projects: Launch of the high-speed rail project and development of new logistics zones .
  4. Ferkessédougou Dry Port: Its commissioning is planned for the end of 2027 .
  5. Multimodal Transport: The Minister assured that multimodal transport will become a reality in 2028-2029 .
  6. SOTRA: Strengthening of the fleet of the Abidjan Transport Company.

Air Transport

  1. Airport Modernization: Continued modernization efforts.
  2. Air Côte d'Ivoire: Fleet reinforcement. The acquisition of 9 new aircraft by 2030 has been announced, including the imminent arrival of a second A330-900 Neo .

This ambitious program reaffirms the government's commitment to providing Côte d'Ivoire with a modern, reliable and efficient transport network for years to come.
