Marche interdite du Front commun (PPACI–PDCI) : 237 interpellés dont des femmes, la situation sous contrôle sur toute l’étendue du territoire national (Ministre Vagondo)

The march announced by the joint opposition front, composed of the PPA-CI and the PDCI, resulted in several arrests this Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Abidjan. Despite the formal ban issued by the Abidjan prefect, supporters of the two political parties attempted to defy the measure, leading to the intervention of security forces.

Facing the press, the Minister of the Interior and Security, General Diomandé Vagondo, gave an initial assessment of the day's events. As of 11:30 a.m., 237 people had been arrested, including women and young people. "Unfortunately, some young people, completely irresponsible, were sent into the streets to erect barricades," the minister lamented.

The reported incidents were limited to Blokosso and Angré (castle side), two districts of Abidjan, while the rest of the national territory remains calm. "The security forces have been deployed to allow all citizens to go about their business and national life to continue as normal," the minister stressed, praising the professionalism of the units involved.

Diomandé Vagondo also pointed out that this demonstration was being held in violation of Article 138 of the Constitution, which strictly regulates public gatherings. "Those caught in an unauthorized demonstration will be held accountable before the law," he warned.

The minister finally praised the sense of responsibility of the majority of young people and called on all citizens to preserve the image of a stable, envied, and exemplary Côte d'Ivoire. "Our country has become a model that many wish to copy. It is up to all of us to protect it from disorder," he concluded.
