CAN : L’arbitre Jean-Jacques Ndala visé par une offensive politique au Maroc
Tensions remain high after the Africa Cup of Nations final. Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala , who officiated the match, is now under scrutiny from Moroccan authorities following the Atlas Lions' defeat to Senegal.
The case has taken an unexpected political turn. During a parliamentary session, a Moroccan member of parliament officially called for the arrest and trial of the Congolese officer. Ndala is accused of collusion or, at the very least, serious professional misconduct that influenced the outcome of the match.
The breaking point crystallized around a particularly contentious sequence of play:
These decisions, deemed inconsistent by Moroccan fans, have fueled a sense of injustice. Beyond Parliament, pressure is also coming from sporting bodies: Fouzi Lekjaa , president of the Moroccan Football Federation, reportedly asked the CAF for the referee's immediate suspension.
Faced with this media and political storm, the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) was quick to react. In an official statement, the federation expressed its full support for Jean-Jacques Ndala, praising his integrity:
"Your technical expertise and your high sense of refereeing ethics have been unanimously praised."
Despite threats and harsh criticism from Rabat, the Congolese camp remains firm on the quality of its representative's performance.
