CAN U17 Maroc 2026 : L’UFOA-B affûte les armes de ses techniciens à Abidjan
With the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations approaching (scheduled for late April 2026 in Morocco), the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B) is taking a proactive approach to technical matters. A three-day strategic seminar was launched this Monday, February 9th, in Cocody, bringing together 14 national coaches of the U-17 category .
Opened in the presence of Ibrahim Musa Gusau (President of WAFU Zone B and the Nigerian Football Federation) and Armand Gohourou (Executive Director of the Ivorian Football Federation), this workshop aims for excellence. Led by experts such as Raymond Tchaye, Adama Guira, and Yéo Singuifolo, under the supervision of Simon Firmin (CAF/FIFA), the program focuses on three pillars:
“Our goal is to equip the area with strong technical frameworks to guarantee increased competitiveness on the continental stage,” Ibrahim Musa Gusau emphasized.
For Armand Gohourou, representing the Ivorian Football Federation, the issue goes beyond mere tactics. Describing coaches as "guides for the youth," he emphasized that the strength of African football depends on the quality of its grassroots level.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive vision for the zonal union. Beyond the players, the entire value chain — coaches and media professionals — is targeted to make West Africa a structurally strong and future-oriented hub.
