Lancement de la première phase des élections législatives en Égypte
Egypt began the first phase of its parliamentary elections on Monday to fill seats in the House of Representatives, the state-run Al-Qahera News channel reported.
Nearly 63 million voters are registered to elect members of the House in a two-phase electoral process.
The first phase of the vote spans two days and concerns citizens of 14 provinces, including Alexandria, Assiut, Aswan, Beheira, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Giza, Luxor, Matrouh, Minya, New Valley, Qena, Red Sea and Sohag.
In total, 1,287 candidates are running in the first phase of the elections, distributed as follows:
The Egyptian House of Representatives consists of a total of 596 seats :
Egyptian voters abroad already voted on November 7 and 8 at embassies and consulates in 117 countries.
