Madagascar : Ces proches du régime qui auraient déjà fui le pays
Madagascar has been facing a socio-political crisis since September 25, 2025. Demonstrations launched by the Gen Z movement to protest water and electricity cuts have turned into a challenge to the political leaders in power, starting with President Andry Rajoelina. A contingent of soldiers has already sided with the protesters, worrying the leader. He declared yesterday, Sunday, that "an attempt to seize power illegally and by force is underway."
Former Prime Minister Ntsay now in Mauritius
This Monday, RFI reported that he was taken out of the country by a French military plane yesterday, Sunday. The aircraft reportedly dropped him off on Reunion Island, from where he departed for a destination that has not yet been disclosed.
According to the Madagascar Tribune, Rajoelina isn't the only one fleeing the country. Many of his close associates have also reportedly fled. The newspaper cites former Prime Minister Christian Ntsay and influential businessman Mamy Ravatomanga. The two figures reportedly left Antananarivo for Mauritius on a private jet, without a stated flight plan.
Hery Rasoamaromaka, the governor of Analamanga, and MP Naivo Raholdina are also believed to have fled the country for France. The people whose homes were set on fire by protesters are still missing: MP Andry Ratsivahiny and Senator Lalatiana Rakotondrazafy.
