Mali : Bamako sous pression après le blocus imposé par les jihadistes
Mali's capital is facing increasing isolation. Following the road blockade decreed by armed groups, the majority of major transport companies have ceased operations, plunging the city into a supply crisis.
Faced with rampant insecurity, more than a dozen official transport companies have suspended their routes to Bamako. The risks have become too high.
While the main roads are deserted by coaches, only a few minibuses are still trying to reach the capital via secondary tracks and back roads.
Bamako, an isolated city dependent on imports, is beginning to suffocate:
This blockade follows a series of coordinated attacks on April 25 and 26. These operations were carried out by JNIM (affiliated with Al-Qaeda) and the Azawad Liberation Front (ALF) . By targeting strategic army positions and supply routes, the insurgents seek to cripple the government and consolidate their control over the territory.
In summary: Between fuel shortages, power cuts and road isolation, the daily lives of Bamako residents are becoming increasingly precarious under the combined pressure of jihadist groups and Tuareg rebels.
