"Pays à haut risque" : Le Nigéria répond à Donald Trump
This Friday, President Trump made a surprising post about Nigeria. "Christianity faces an existential threat in Nigeria."
Thousands of Christians are being murdered. Radical Islamists are responsible for this massacre. I am therefore declaring Nigeria a "high-risk country." But this is only the tip of the iceberg. When Christians, or any other group, are massacred as is the case in Nigeria (3,100 compared to 4,476 worldwide), it is imperative to act!," the US president said on his digital platforms.
He even asked Representative Riley Moore, as well as Speaker Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately examine the matter and report back to him. "The United States cannot stand idly by in the face of such atrocities committed in Nigeria and many other countries. We are prepared to do everything in our power to save our many Christians around the world," he said. The Nigerian government has responded.
Indeed, in a statement, the federal government said it was determined to fight violent extremism fueled by special interests that have contributed to the degradation and division of countries in the West African and Sahelian region.
“Like America, Nigeria has no choice but to celebrate diversity, which is our greatest strength. Nigeria is a pious country where we respect faith, tolerance, diversity, and inclusion, in accordance with the rules-based international order,” the Nigerian federal government stated in its press release. It emphasized that the United States will always remain a close ally.
