TCHAD/ Sarh : Une église dans le viseur des autorités après la mort suspecte d'une fidèle
The city of Sarh is in shock following the mysterious death of a teacher. This tragedy has brought to light the controversial activities of a religious community in the 6th arrondissement, whose methods are increasingly raising questions among residents and the justice system.
The church at the heart of the controversy, called "The Chosen of God" and led by Noubaramadji Moïse , is no stranger to scandal. According to several accounts, the movement initially established itself in Koumra in 2021. At the time, local authorities reportedly expelled them from the city following numerous complaints about their practices, which were deemed disturbing. It was after this expulsion that the group resettled in the residential Maingara neighborhood of Sarh.
Beyond the teacher's death, it is the rules of life imposed by the community that fuel the anger of the population:
The victim's death served as a catalyst. Alerted by the announcement of her disappearance, the municipal authorities, through Sidothe Beteloum, secretary of the Sarh town hall, reacted immediately. The defense and security forces have
took over the premises to question the leaders of the sect as well as several followers.
When questioned by local media, the church leader, Noubaramadji Moïse, chose to remain silent, merely stating that "only God's justice will do its work" .
Current situation: A judicial inquiry has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the death. The teacher's body is currently at the morgue of the Outel Bono Provincial Hospital in Sarh.
