On Friday, July 10, 2026, the African Soft Drinks and Lemonade Company (SOLIBRA) officially handed over an improved village borehole to the residents of Assié-Akpessé (M'Batto commune). This investment aims to secure the locality's drinking water supply and foster a genuine culture of hygiene.

A standardized infrastructure near the health center

Excavated to a depth of 85 meters , this new structure was strategically located near the village health center. To guarantee its viability and compliance, the work was rigorously supervised and certified by a specialized inspection agency.

For Linda Okossi-Assamoi, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and the Environment (CSR) at SOLIBRA, this action fulfills a promise made during World Water Day.

"This well represents much more than a simple hydraulic structure. It is synonymous with life, health and hope," she stressed, recalling the direct impact of this project on the daily lives of women and children, the first victims of water-fetching chores.

A comprehensive action plan for hygiene and health

Far from being limited to infrastructure construction, the project deploys a comprehensive environmental and health awareness program, conducted in collaboration with the relevant public services. The objective: to eradicate waterborne diseases through several key strategies.

1. Women's training: Learning and applying good hygiene practices within homes.
2. School awareness: Educating children in schools to make them ambassadors of cleanliness to their families.
3. “Guardians of Hygiene”: Creation of a group of local youth trained in the technical maintenance of the borehole and equipped with community awareness kits.

In order to sustain the infrastructure and consolidate these new behaviors, a community committee will monitor the situation, supported by the SOLIBRA teams who will remain active on the ground until December 2026 .

A relief welcomed by local authorities

Present at the ceremony, the sub-prefect of M'Batto, Brou Christelle Éléonore, expressed the deep gratitude of the local population and the government for this civic act. She noted that the Moronou region, and more specifically the department of M'Batto, still suffers from a critical shortage of drinking water.

Ms. Brou emphasized the liberating impact of this project on women and children, while calling on the private sector to follow SOLIBRA's example in supporting rural development. She concluded by urging the population to take ownership of this well.

"Consider this well as a collective asset. Avoid any damage and organize yourselves to ensure its regular maintenance so that it can serve several generations."
