It is now official. The Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training has just published the exclusive list of textbooks and teaching materials selected for the 2026-2027 school year.

Through a firm ministerial circular, educational authorities strictly regulate the choice of books in order to protect household purchasing power and guarantee educational equity.

Strict application at all levels

This directive applies to the entire Ivorian education system. It concerns:

1. Preschool and primary education (public and private);
2. General secondary education (public and private);
3. The Centers for Animation and Pedagogical Training (CAFOP).

Zero tolerance for unauthorized textbooks

The ministry's message is unambiguous: no other books than those on the official list can be imposed.

"No institution, teaching council, educational unit or local structure shall impose on students or families textbooks or teaching materials not included on the aforementioned list."

This strong measure aims at a threefold objective:

1. The uniformity of textbooks: Ensuring the same books by level and by subject throughout the territory.
2. Educational consistency: Standardizing learning tools on a national scale.
3. Protecting families: Putting an end to abusive and unauthorized prescriptions that burden the budgets of parents of students.

Monitoring and sanctions

The responsibility for implementing this measure rests directly with the heads of institutions, school directors, directors of CAFOP and the Inspectors of Preschool and Primary Education (IEPP).

To ensure compliance, the Inspectorate General and the Regional Directorates (DRENA) will conduct regular on-site inspections. Any offender will be subject to the penalties stipulated by current regulations.
