Quand le buzz dérape : un artiste arrêté pour propos diffamatoires sur les réseaux sociaux
At a time when social media dictates the pace of public opinion, a single click can ignite a veritable digital firestorm. This is what happened in a case currently shaking the media sphere: a singer, identified by the initials DSPT , found himself in the hands of the justice system after the release of videos deemed defamatory.
It all started with complaints filed by TYCJ and KM , two people who claim their image has been severely damaged by the artist's online posts. The videos, which went viral, allegedly harmed their reputation and sparked strong public reactions.
Upon receiving the case, the Cybercrime Prevention Platform (PLCC) , a technical unit of the National Cybersecurity Agency of France (ANSSI) , immediately launched an investigation. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of the suspected perpetrator of the offending content.
During his hearing, DSPT admitted to producing some of the videos. He attempted to justify his actions by citing a dispute related to an artistic performance, asserting that he had no intention of causing harm. This explanation was insufficient to prevent legal proceedings.
The artist was brought before the public prosecutor for disseminating false information and defaming others , under Article 65 of Law No. 2013-451 of June 19, 2013, concerning the fight against cybercrime. This case serves as a reminder that, in the digital world, freedom of expression ends where criminal liability begins.
