Libye : Seif al-Islam Kadhafi, fils de Mouammar Kadhafi, tué près de Zintan
In Libya , Saif al-Islam Gaddafi , one of the sons of former leader Muammar Gaddafi , was reportedly killed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, south of the city of Zintan , in the west of the country. The information was reported by a close advisor, who described an attack carried out by several armed men.
A central and controversial figure in post-2011 Libya, Seif al-Islam Gaddafi was being prosecuted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity in connection with the repression of demonstrations during the uprising against his father's regime.
Long presented as a possible political heir before the fall of the regime, he was captured after the death of Muammar Gaddafi, sentenced to death by a Libyan court, then released several years later in controversial circumstances.
The exact circumstances of his death remain to be officially confirmed , as no formal statement from the Libyan authorities had yet been released at the time. His passing comes amidst significant political and security instability , more than a decade after the fall of the Gaddafi regime.
