Fête de l'Indépendance 2026 : Adama Bictogo met Yopougon sous pression pour le 7 août
As the 66th anniversary of Ivory Coast's independence approaches, the municipality of Yopougon is bustling with activity. The mayor, Adama Bictogo, conducted an intensive site visit on Saturday, July 11, 2026, to oversee the major modernization projects launched for the occasion.
Accompanied by his municipal team and technical directors, the mayor inspected several strategic sites, from the Siporex district to the area around the 4th Bridge. The objective was clear: to assess the quality of the infrastructure and ensure strict adherence to deadlines, less than a month before the festivities.
These beautification and modernization works are part of a vast government program allocating 55 kilometers of asphalt to the municipality.
According to details provided by the town hall this Sunday, the flagship projects include:
Through this acceleration, the local authorities aim to offer a modern and functional setting, capable of properly accommodating the thousands of Ivorians and international delegations expected.
"This site visit reflects the desire of the deputy-mayor to closely monitor the execution of the works so that Yopougon is ready to host this major event in the best conditions," the municipality emphasized.
The stakes are high: this is the very first time in its history that Yopougon has been chosen to host the official National Day celebrations. It's a mark of confidence from President Alassane Ouattara that the city council intends to honor brilliantly on August 7th.
