Élections 2025 : Le président de la CEI invite les électeurs à retirer leurs cartes pour garantir leur participation

The president of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Ibrahime-Kuibiert Coulibaly, has launched an urgent appeal to Ivorian voters to go en masse to the collection centers to collect their voter cards, an essential document for participating in the presidential election of October 25, 2025.

According to him, this operation is taking place under good conditions thanks to the rigorous organization put in place by the agents of the withdrawal offices at the end of a field visit carried out this Monday, October 13, 2025 in Abidjan. "I have very positive impressions. The organization is well done, the agents are at their posts, disciplined, courteous and respectful of the procedures," he said, congratulating their commitment and their sense of duty.

The CEI president also urged voters to demonstrate civic responsibility by collecting their cards. "Article 5 of the Electoral Code stipulates that registration on the electoral roll confers the status of voter, and this status is proven by the voter card. It is therefore essential to come and collect it," he insisted. He took advantage of this visit to collect his voter card, which he proudly brandished to the media.

Recalling the importance of this document, he stressed that without a voter card, it will be impossible to vote, regardless of the election. "If you do not come and collect your card, you will not be able to vote, neither in the presidential election, nor in the legislative or senatorial elections," he warned.

The CEI chairman also emphasized the efficiency of having a voter card on election day. "The card facilitates operations at polling stations. The number it contains makes it possible to quickly locate the voter and avoid queues. Time is precious, as voting operations only last ten hours," he explained.

Finally, he urged citizens to remain calm and civil throughout the withdrawal period. "There may be some misunderstandings, but we must remain logical: registering means wanting to vote. Collecting your card means affirming your desire to participate in the democratic life of our country," he concluded.
