Guinée-Bissau : Umaro Sissoco Embaló exfiltré et accueilli au Sénégal
The former president of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, was exfiltrated and then transferred to Senegal after the coup d'état carried out on November 26, 2025 by a faction of the army.
Dakar confirmed his arrival "safe and sound", putting an end to the rumors that had been circulating since the military took power.
According to Senegalese authorities, a plane was specially chartered to exfiltrate the former head of state, whose safety was deemed to be seriously threatened. This operation, conducted discreetly, is part of a regional coordination effort involving Senegal and several ECOWAS actors in response to the collapse of Guinea-Bissau's institutions.
