Following the 2025 elections, Ivorian civil society organizations (CSOs) are taking action. Meeting in a review workshop on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, they officially called on the government to initiate a national and inclusive dialogue on future electoral reforms. A "White Paper" outlining their proposals, which serves as a roadmap, is currently being finalized.

A sacred union for a peaceful democracy

This grassroots movement brings together 1,768 organizations committed to promoting democracy, peace, and good governance. For these stakeholders, the success of upcoming elections hinges on broad consultation with all sectors of the nation.

  1. Political parties and the media;
  2. Civil society in all its diversity;
  3. Women, young people and people with disabilities.
"These reforms are essential to strengthening citizens' trust in democratic institutions and preventing tensions." — Excerpt from the joint statement.

Towards a new Election Management Body (EMB)

Enriched by feedback from electoral experts from five African countries ( Benin, Ghana, Guinea, Madagascar and Senegal ), the workshop focused on a thorough overhaul of the Ivorian electoral architecture.

Concrete proposals have been formulated to build an Election Management Body (EMB) that is impartial, accountable, and highly professional. The recommendations focus on four key pillars:

  1. The method of appointment and the composition of members.
  2. The expansion of the body's responsibilities .
  3. The autonomy of its financing .
  4. Operational efficiency (management of the permanent electoral register, revision of the lists and civic education of voters).

A White Paper as a compass

All of these requirements and technical solutions will be compiled in a White Paper . This strategic document will be sent very soon to government authorities, the future OGE, political parties, the media, and Côte d'Ivoire's technical and financial partners.

A powerful coalition The text is supported by a broad front of leading organizations, including: ADOPEGG, AFJCI, APDH-CI, CAPH-CI, Centre AHOU, COSOPCI, the regional branches of CRASC (Centre, East, South), CSCI, FEDAOSC.CI, FLI, FOSCAO-CI, INDIGO CI, LIDHO, MIDH, MIDJ, OFACI, RASALAO-CI, TITW, WANEP-CI and WAYN-CI.
