Législatives 2025 à Treichville : des contestations sur le scellage des urnes retardent le vote dans certains bureaux
The opening of the polls was disrupted this Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Treichville Modern High School polling station. The cause was disputes related to the sealing of ballot boxes in some polling stations.
Initially delayed by heavy rains, the start of electoral operations was then blocked in polling stations n°01 and n°03. The representatives of two independent candidates, Baye Paul Pierre Valentin and Touré Ibrahime Ben Nabil Touré, refused to launch the vote, believing that the ballot boxes were not properly sealed.
According to one of the protesting representatives, this situation posed a risk to the security of the electoral materials. Despite explanations from an assessor, who indicated after checking with the Central Bureau Coordination Center (CBCG) that voting had already begun in other centers under similar conditions and with the agreement of the candidates' representatives, the protesters remained inflexible.
Around 10 a.m., when the AIP team visited, voting had still not begun in the polling stations concerned. However, polling stations No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 were operating normally, with voters actively participating and the representatives of the candidates present agreeing to participate.
Moreover, access to this polling station remained difficult until 9 a.m., due to runoff water caused by the rain which had just stopped.
The supervisor of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in this center, Ms. Camara née Fofana, confirmed that the sealing devices for the ballot boxes did indeed arrive late in some polling stations, including that of the modern high school in Treichville.
