Madagascar : des militaires annoncent prendre le pouvoir
Soldiers, some of whom are from the Army Corps of Personnel and Administrative and Technical Services (Capsat), announced on October 14 that they were taking power in Madagascar . A statement to this effect was made in the middle of the afternoon from the presidential palace by a small group of officers, including Colonel Michael Randrianirina, according to Jeune Afrique 's special correspondent in Antananarivo. It was broadcast on national television.
"We will take power starting today and we will dissolve the Senate and the High Constitutional Court," declared Colonel Randrianirina. "We will let the National Assembly continue to work." The electoral commission has also been dissolved. It was Colonel Randrianirina who, on October 11, turned the Gen Z protest movement into an armed forces insurrection.
