Traque ouverte contre le choukouya au papier ciment
A veritable health "war" has just begun in Ivory Coast. As part of its efforts to protect public health, the Health Police have launched a large-scale inspection operation targeting vendors of grilled meat, the famous "choukouya." The cause? The highly toxic use of used cement bags to wrap and steam the meat.
The results of recent inspections are conclusive and reveal the extent of a practice that is extremely dangerous for consumers:
Immediate sanctions: For the eight traders caught in the act, the sentence was immediate. The contaminated meat and all the incriminating equipment were seized, and the vendors were officially summoned by the authorities.
The Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage is taking a firm stance. It firmly reiterates that respecting food hygiene rules is not optional, but a legal obligation to protect public health.
The ministry also commends the public's vigilance: "Thank you to the engaged citizens who, through their reports, contribute to the protection of all."
