Drame à Kami : Un homme tué lors de troubles, le Parquet de Toumodi ouvre une enquête

The village of Kami, located in the commune of Yamoussoukro, was the scene of a tragic event on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. A crowd on the public highway degenerated, resulting in the death of a 46-year-old man, hit in the head by a projectile.

According to a statement from the Public Prosecutor at the Toumodi court, the incident occurred as individuals were blocking access to the village with barricades. The National Gendarmerie intervened to disperse the crowd and restore free movement.

It was during the operation to dismantle the roadblocks that a villager, identified as Konan Paul Kacou, aged 46, assisted the police. Shortly after, he was seriously injured.

Violent death and immediate investigation

Despite his emergency evacuation to the army health center of the 6th Legion of the Territorial Gendarmerie, the man unfortunately died shortly after his arrival, as confirmed in the official press release.

The chief physician determined that the death was violent, caused by head trauma resulting from the impact of a blunt object.

In response to this tragedy, the Toumodi Public Prosecutor's Office immediately ordered the opening of an investigation. The goal is to shed light on the exact circumstances of this death and to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this act.

In his press release dated October 22, 2025, the Public Prosecutor reaffirmed the firm commitment of the justice system to ensuring public safety and respect for the law. He also appealed to the population for calm and restraint, emphasizing that "no one is above the law."

This sudden death has renewed concerns about the increase in violent gatherings in some regions. Authorities have stressed the importance of community dialogue to prevent further unrest and ensure social peace.
