As part of its efforts to combat economic crime, the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Criminal Assets ( AGRAC ) conducted major public auctions in Abidjan on December 17 and 19, 2025. Under the supervision of Maître Kouamé Ané Jean Bruce, Judicial Commissioner, the auction successfully sold all the lots offered.

Sales figures

The auction, which attracted around 300 participants , took place in two key stages:

1. Wednesday, December 17: Sale of 70 vehicles (67 metered taxis and 3 minibuses) and 115 butane gas bottles (models B6 and B12).
2. Friday, December 19: Sale of 54 additional vehicles, exclusively metered taxis.

Origin of the seized assets

These assets were confiscated as part of various criminal proceedings. The reasons for seizure reflect the diversity of the offenses being prosecuted:

1. For vehicles: Fraud and money laundering.
2. For gas cylinders: Illegal mining and illicit trade in precious metals and stones.

Destination of the funds raised

Revenue management follows a strict transparency protocol:

1. Sequestration: The funds are placed in an account at the Public Treasury pending final court decisions.
2. Compensation: In the event of a firm conviction, the sums will be used primarily to compensate the victims .
3. Prevention: The surplus can be used to finance the fight against money laundering and terrorism, by supporting security and justice services.

The key figure: With these two operations, AGRAC has held a total of 12 auctions for the year 2025 alone , marking an acceleration of its activities since its creation in 2022.
