Protection sociale en Côte d’Ivoire : Le Ministre Adama Kamara exhorte les populations à la régularité des cotisations

At the inauguration of the Social Protection Village in Williamsville on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Adama Kamara, Minister of Employment and Social Protection, made a passionate appeal for civic responsibility. The message was clear: for the national solidarity system to continue, every insured person must honor their contributions.

Taking action: From enrollment to payment

After a massive awareness campaign that garnered the support of millions of citizens, the Ivorian government is taking a new step. It's no longer just about registering, but about ensuring the system's sustainability through regular contributions.

The minister reiterated the three essential pillars of this coverage:

  1. The CMU (Universal Health Coverage): To guarantee access to healthcare for all, without distinction.
  2. The RSTI (Social Scheme for Self-Employed Workers): Offering protection (compensation, retirement) to those working in the informal sector.
  3. Supplementary Pension: Enabling civil servants to secure an additional income to their basic pension.

"Contributing is investing in one's own dignity."

For Adama Kamara, the contribution should not be seen as a tax burden, but as a security savings .

“Being up-to-date with your contributions is an investment in your own dignity for tomorrow. Today’s contribution is tomorrow’s pension; it’s your security and that of your family in case of hardship.”

The Minister emphasized that the viability of this solidarity model depends entirely on the contributions of its beneficiaries. He also encouraged the use of income tax withholding and supplementary contributions to maximize the retirement savings of insured individuals.

Proximity and Solidarity on the Ground

The Social Protection Village, located on the large grounds in Williamsville, serves as a one-stop shop for the population. The three major institutions are represented there to facilitate procedures:

  1. CNAM (Health Insurance)
  2. CNPS (Private and independent sector)
  3. CGRAE (Civil Service)

Alongside the speeches, the Minister demonstrated the State's social commitment through a strong gesture: the handing over of orthopedic equipment (wheelchairs, crutches) to people with disabilities, recalling that social protection is, above all, a matter of humanity.
