CAN 2025 : Côte d’Ivoire balaye le Burkina Faso (3-0) et file en quarts de finale !
Ivory Coast made a strong impression on Tuesday in the round of 16 of the 2025 AFCON , winning convincingly 3-0 against Burkina Faso to qualify authoritatively for the quarter-finals of the competition.
From the outset, the Elephants took control of the game. In the 20th minute , Amad Diallo opened the scoring with a well-placed shot from inside the penalty area, giving Ivory Coast an ideal start to the match.
Shortly after, in the 32nd minute , Yan Diomandé doubled Ivory Coast's lead, taking advantage of a ball cleared in the opposing area to convert it into a second goal.
Burkina Faso, despite being well-organized, failed to respond to the pressure and technical quality of their opponent. Late in the game, Bazoumana Touré sealed the 3-0 victory in the 87th minute , giving the defending champions a comfortable win.
This victory allows Ivory Coast to continue the defense of its continental title and to look ahead to the quarter-finals , where new challenges await them against equally formidable opponents.
Having reached the final four of the tournament favorites thanks to a solid collective performance, the Ivorian team has demonstrated tactical mastery and offensive efficiency that place it among the serious contenders to go far in the competition.
Ivory Coast, which finished top of its group in the group stage, therefore continues on its path, strengthened by its cohesion and its experience in knockout matches.
