Tanda: L'administration passe à la vitesse supérieure contre l'orpaillage illégal et mise sur l'exploitation minière responsable
Tanda, Ivory Coast – The administrative authorities of the Tanda department have sent a strong signal to curb illegal gold mining and steer the region's future towards a structured and sustainable mining model. This strategic reaffirmation took place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, marking the close of the public inquiry into the "Commoda et Incommodo" (Consequences and Consequences) regarding the gold mining permit application submitted by Etruscan Resources Côte d'Ivoire SARL.
Speaking at the event, the prefect of Tanda, Koné Tamkolly Benoît , described the situation as a "decisive turning point." He contrasted the rise of illegal mining activities with the gradual structuring of a formal sector, crucial for a region destined to become the "second development hub of Côte d'Ivoire."
Prefect Koné unequivocally urged the population to choose mining partners who respect environmental and social standards , insisting that this is the only way towards sustainable mining development.
Mr. Koné issued a clear warning about the security consequences of illegal gold mining, highlighting its direct impact on stability, the safety of people and the protection of property .
He also urged households affected by the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) to regularize their situation immediately to avoid administrative measures.
"We insist on the need to go through official channels to prevent any unilateral decision related to insecurity situations on the ground," stressed Mr. Koné, inviting communities to trust state procedures and established mining operators like Endeavour Mining.
For his part, Koui Sadia Justin , regional director of Mines in Gontougo, praised the cooperation of the local population. He emphasized the importance of a strong partnership between the government and communities to support the mining industrialization process.
According to him, adherence to national and international standards is the most effective strategy to combat illegal gold mining and guarantee secure and transparent economic benefits for local communities.
The "Commodo et Incommodo" survey, a key element of this administrative procedure, took place from September 19 to October 18, 2025.
