Togo-AIEA : Un partenariat stratégique renouvelé pour le développement nucléaire civil
Togo has taken a decisive step in its use of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes. On Monday, February 9, 2026, in Vienna, the Togolese government and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) formalized a new National Programme Framework (NPF) for the period 2026-2031 .
This agreement, signed by Foreign Minister Robert Dussey and IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi , defines the technical and scientific roadmap that will accompany the country over the next five years.
This new framework is not limited to energy, but affects sectors vital to the daily lives of Togolese people:
Since joining the UN in 2012, Togo has significantly strengthened its presence within the institution. Its election last year to the IAEA Board of Governors demonstrates its desire to play a significant role in global nuclear governance.
"This agreement is a key lever for accelerating our sustainable development and promoting innovation in service of the people," the Togolese authorities emphasized.
Drawing on the expertise of the IAEA, Lomé reaffirms its ambition: to transform its technological and scientific landscape to meet the challenges of the 21st century, in a safe and responsible manner.
